Location is number 1 factor for choosing a school

Location is the most important factor or parents when choosing a school our survey of 1000 parents of school-age children has revealed.

74% of secondary school parents and 71% of primary school parents said they would opt for their nearest school or the school that is most convenient to get to.

But what other factors influence parents’ choice of school?

For primary school parents, the school must also have ‘an inclusive ethos where all pupils are valued’ and it is important that the senior leadership team is ‘effective’.

When choosing a secondary school, the same factors are important, but so is 'discipline and behaviour which promote effective learning'.

Well-qualified teachers was also in the top five reasons to select a secondary school.

In both primary and secondary, around half of parents will take the schools Ofsted rating into account.

The deadline for secondary school applications for September 2023 is on Monday 31 October 2022 and the primary school application deadline is on 15 January 2023.
