This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

Senior leaders have created a warm, vibrant ethos. Pupils are very positive about their school. They give visitors a cheerful welcome. They feel safe and are happy. Parents and carers are overwhelmingly supportive of the school. Leaders’ high expectations of pupils match the core values of the school. For example, pupils know that they must be resilient by trying their best to achieve. Pupils like their teachers. There are lots of fun, well-supervised things to do at breaktimes. Pupils particularly like taking part in the many sports and competitive events. Pupils behave well. Bullying is not tolerated. Any poor behaviour is managed effectively. Leaders are ambitious for pupils. Reading is prioritised. Pupils find lessons interesting and pay close attention to their teachers. Teachers plan most learning carefully. Pupils’ skills and knowledge are developed through a wide range of experiences. Disadvantaged pupils are catching up with other pupils. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities achieve well. However, not all subjects include lessons that build on what pupils know and can do. Pupils take on additional responsibilities. Some take on roles as school councillors or playtime monitors.

“Our great local school”

"> My two children currently attend this school - they are in year 4 and year 2. There is a very strong and effective new head teacher. My children have been doing very well academically with brilliant opportunities in music (Royal Albert Hall choir) and trips. From year 2 each year is split into three sets of 20! So children have smaller class sizes. I really like the quality of the projects that the children do in class, amazing wall displays, emphasis on beautiful writing and grammar, strong Maths emphasis. It is good to be part of a Values school (compassion, courage etc) that the school emphasises each month. The refurbishment of the school inside and out looks lovely- the facilities are now really good - fab playground. This is a happy and very vibrant school. We have had some wobbles along the way- ( there was an interim head teacher and the school lost direction) but now the school is on the up again with excellent leadership. I am so glad my children are here.
