School Description

The college opened in September 2012 for sixth form students, sponsored by Central Bedfordshire College, the University of Bedfordshire, Cranfield University and supported by a range of business partners. It is currently very small compared to other secondary schools. In September 2013, the first group of Year 10 students joined the college. The proportion of students eligible for the pupil premium funding is very small. This is additional government funding to support students who are known to be eligible for free school meals, looked after by the local authority, or from service families. No funding was allocated for this academic year. The proportions of disabled students and those who have special educational needs supported through school action or school action plus are very small. There are currently no students with a statement of special educational needs. The proportion of students from minority ethnic groups is broadly average. There are none in the early stages of learning English and very few girls. There have not been any public examinations in Key Stage 4 yet and there are no available data to compare with government floor standards. Three students attend alternative providers: First Place Training in Dunstable and Active Support Luton. There have been significant changes in leadership since the college opened and there is currently no permanent principal in post. The acting principal has resigned and the college is being led by a team of external consultants. The Local Leader of Education from a local school has recently supported the college.
