Independent preparatory schools do not have to follow the National Curriculum or submit test results to the Department for Education so there is no individual school performance data or star rating.

Visit the school's website to learn more about their unique curriculum, policies on testing and common leaver destinations (a good indicator of pupil progress). See our About page for information on Choosing A Prep School.

School Description

Clifton Lodge is an independent Nursery & Prep School for boys and girls aged between 3 and 11 years. Our children progress with a strong emphasis on character education, developing resilience and a sense of self-belief to succeed. We focus on inspiring our pupils to achieve their very best academically and personally in small class sizes with dedicated teaching and support staff. Our nurturing Early Years, incorporates a warm and friendly Nursery from age 3 leading directly into a wonderful Reception class. They are both situated in a separate, light and bright purpose built space, with its own playground. The school is open from 8am each morning, with after school care until 6pm and a holiday club on site. Pupils joining our Nursery have the option of mornings only for the first term. The school motto – Optime: ‘try always to do your best’ summarises what is expected of everyone at Clifton Lodge. We help all pupils to achieve their best academically so that they can gain entry to the schools of their choice at 11+. We track pupils’ progress and potential which is a key tool when looking at senior school options. We also believe in working with our parents to bring out the full potential of their children. Promoting good manners, kindness and care for others is a key focus throughout the school. We know that education is not just about academic subjects in the classroom. We believe it is about giving children a wide range of knowledge so that they can make informed choices and contribute positively to society. Our emphasis on character education develops resilience and a sense of self-awareness which enables our pupils to succeed. This allows pupils to find out who they are and what they can do. We include fundamental British values into all areas of our learning and as part of Cognita Schools Group, we have a strong focus on wellbeing of all pupils and staff which enables us to support everyone in our school community.
