Delabole Community Primary School is smaller than the average-sized primary school. There are five classes. The youngest children are taught in one Reception class. Pupils in Years 1 to 6 are taught in four mixed-aged classes. Most pupils are White British and few pupils are from minority ethnic backgrounds. The proportion of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs identified as eligible for special educational needs support is above the average. A higher than average proportion of these pupils is supported by an additional education, health or care plan. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for the pupil premium is average. This is additional government funding for pupils known to be eligible to receive free school meals and those in local authority care. Since September 2012, the school has been a member of a managed partnership with Tintagel Primary School. The executive headteacher leads both schools, supported by an assistant headteacher from each school. Members of the wider leadership team work across both schools. The school will become part of a multi-academy trust with its partner school on 1 November 2014. In 2014, the school met the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. At the last section 5 inspection, the school was judged to require special measures.
