School Description

Easton Garford is a smaller than average primary school. In 2013 it changed from being a first school to a primary school. It has two classes. One caters for reception and Key Stage 1 children, and the other class contains Key Stage 2 pupils. The great majority of pupils are White British and live in the local village. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium funding is well below average. This is additional government funding provided to give extra support to those pupils known to be eligible for free school meals and to children who are looked after by the local authority. The proportion of children supported through a statement of special educational need or with an Education, Health and Care plan is below average. Action was taken by the Local Authority in February 2014 to put an Interim Executive Board (IEB) in place. There have been several changes in staff, including the headteacher and senior and middle leaders, since the previous inspection. The school is currently led by an acting interim headteacher. There was a complete change of teaching staff in January 2014. Through the auspices of the Local Authority, the school receives support from two other schools to develop the Early Years provision and the quality of writing. These are the “5 Wells Teaching Alliance” and Maidwell Primary School 2014 was the first year the school had Year 6 pupils.
