School Description

Ellesmere Primary School is an above average-sized primary school. Children in Nursery attend part time and Reception attend full time. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils supported by the pupil premium funding is below average. The pupil premium provides additional funding for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals and those children who are looked after by the local authority. Most pupils are White British. The proportion of pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds is below that in most schools. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs or disability is below average compared to similar schools nationally. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics for pupils in Year 6. The school does not meet requirements on the publication of information about curriculum content and current allocation of pupil premium and sport funding on its website. The headteacher was appointed to the post in April 2015. There have been significant changes in staff in the last school year, with the appointment of seven new members of staff in September 2015.
