Holland Park Pre-Preparatory School and Day Nursery is an independent school for boys and girls housed in two properties located in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It was opened by the current proprietor in 1990 as a day nursery and was registered in 2001 as an independent school for children aged from three months to eight years. There are currently 138 children on roll, three of whom are of compulsory school age and the oldest is in his seventh year. Of the 130 children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, 80 attend part time and 71 receive public funding under the nursery voucher scheme. The Early Years Foundation Stage provision comprises a ‘baby nursery’ for children aged from three months to two years and a nursery for children aged from two to four years. There are 71 children under the age of three years. Children aged between four and five years are taught in the prepreparatory class, along with children in Key Stage 1. There are no children with statements of special educational needs and four children have been identified as having moderate learning difficulties. Children have diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and many speak English as an additional language or are bilingual. The under-threes receive varying amounts of day care and about one third of the children receive wrap around care. The school is registered separately on the Early Years Register for the under-threes. It is also on both the compulsory and the voluntary parts of the Childcare Register to provide full day care, sessional care and out-of-school care for up to 100 children from 7.30am to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday for 51 weeks each year. The care provision was last inspect ed in March 2006. The school had its first independent school inspection by Ofsted in February 2008.
