School Description

This is a two-form entry primary school with 15 classes. Pupil numbers are above average and numbers have increased over the past two years. Children attend the Nursery class in the morning. The proportion of pupils with special educational needs supported at school action is lower than average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is broadly average. Most pupils come from White British backgrounds. Other groups represented at the school include pupils from Pakistani and Indian backgrounds. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. A lower than average percentage of pupils are known to be eligible for additional funding through a government initiative known as the pupil premium. This is provided for children in local authority care, children with a parent in the armed services and those known to be eligible for free school meals. There have been several changes in staff, including the headteacher, since the school’s last inspection.
