The school is larger than the average-sized secondary school. A higher-than-average proportion of pupils are from minority ethnic groups and speak English as an additional language. About half the pupils are White British. Other pupils come from a wide range of heritages, with pupils from Any other White backgrounds being the largest group. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium is just above average. The pupil premium is additional funding for those pupils known to be eligible for free school meals and children who are looked after. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs or disability is below the national average. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for attainment and progress by the end of Year 11. Pupils’ mobility is high. A much-larger-than-average proportion of pupils enter or leave the school other than at normal times. Many of these pupils who enter the school midway through the year do not speak English. At the time of this inspection, there were 13 pupils in Year 11 attending Peterborough College for one morning a week as part of their construction studies and nine attending Stanground Academy for a course in hair and beauty. The school is part of a sixth-form partnership with Voyager Academy.
