SPECIALIST DYSLEXIA AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS SUPPORT

At Kingsley School we have an inclusive ethos which is focused on ensuring that all pupils succeed, no matter what their barriers to learning may be. Additional educational needs are taken seriously and we are committed to to supporting all pupils in all areas of life. We help pupils achieve their potential through experienced and expert teaching in the relaxed but puposeful atmosphere of our Learning Development Centre.

The school does everything possible to develop the self-confidence of all our students through academic, enrichment and pastoral activities. As a department, we have recently celebrated pupils’ success in writing competitions, thoroughly enjoyed an educational visit to London, and pride ourselves on being a safe haven for pupils when they need a bit of TLC. To this end, staff members are trained in the Thrive Approach to support and develop pupils’ emotional and social well-being, as well as to extend their academic potential.

KINGSLEY WELCOMES A NEW HEADTEACHER

We are very pleased to welcome a new Headteacher to Kingsley. Mrs Gill Jackson joins Kingsley with over 30 years of experience of providing inspirational teaching and leadership. She is a National Leader of Education, has extensive experience mentoring new headteachers and has also established a teaching school to support the careers of hundreds of educationalists across the North West of England.

Her experiences in the North East have shaped Gill’s career. Irrespective of children’s origins or backgrounds, she firmly believes that they can only flourish if they are educated in an environment where they feel able and confident to express themselves and explore their own talents and interests.

Gill has relatives in the local area, links to the Methodist Church, and is deeply impressed with the strong ethos and values-driven education that Kingsley has to offer.

After a short spell at the renowned Ripley St Thomas CofE Academy, which she left for personal reasons, she was, therefore, delighted to accept a position to join our community.
