Lewes New School Parent Reviews

“A gem!”

Lewes New School is a gem, I’m so glad I found it! Children are truly listened to and given the time and patience to express themselves. The teachers are free from a constraining curriculum so they are enabled to follow the children’s interests. This captures the children’s imaginations and therefore their desire to learn is nurtured, rather than quashed or squashed into a box. Children learn social skills and how to respect one another in meaningful ways. The small class sizes enable the teachers to support this. I have been really impressed by the staffs’ willingness to listen to both me and my child about what he needs. They are approachable, flexible and willing to think creatively about what will help each child’s engagement with learning. I have observed many interactions where the teachers have skilfully interwoven learning about ‘traditional’ subjects in a way that makes sense to the child and their chosen mode of learning. I highly recommend it.
