This is a smaller than the average-sized secondary school. At its last inspection, the college was deemed to require special measures. Since then, it has received four monitoring visits led by one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors, who also led this inspection. The proportion of students who are disabled or have special educational needs is in line with the national average. The proportion of disadvantaged students supported by the pupil premium, which is additional funding for students in local authority care and those known to be eligible for free school meals, is average. Alternative provision for six students is provided at the Melton Learning Hub, 20/20 Loughborough, Environmental Studies Ltd, Gemeg Sports and Gaz’s Autos. For all these Year 10 and Year 11 students, provision is part time for up to two days a week. Within the college, there is specially resourced provision for disabled pupils and those with special educational needs. A special educational needs unit provides for students who have speech and language difficulties. Currently, there are 25 students on roll. The college meets the meets the government’s current floor standards for secondary schools, which set out the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics by the end of Year 11. The college also meets the minimum academic standards for the sixth form.
