School Description

The school is much smaller than the average-sized primary school. The very large majority of the pupils are from White British backgrounds. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is similar to the national average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is above average. The proportion of pupils for whom the school receives the pupil premium is similar to the national average but has risen significantly over the last four years. The pupil premium is additional government funding for children in the care of the local authority and pupils known to be eligible for free school meals. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for the attainment and progress of pupils by the end of Year 6. The school has had a significant turnover of teachers in the past. Three of the current four class teachers have been at the school only since September 2012. An acting headteacher was temporarily in post from February to August 2013. Far more pupils leave and join the school partway through their primary education than is usual from most primary schools.
