The school is much smaller than the average-sized secondary school. Since the previous inspection the school has undergone significant change, predominantly the appointment of a new headteacher in September 2012. The proportions of pupils from minority ethnic groups and pupils who speak English as an additional language is lower than average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is below average. The proportion supported through school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is average. The proportion of pupils supported through the pupil premium (additional funding for pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals, looked after children and pupils with a parent in the Armed Forces) is below average. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which sets the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in Year 6. The school does not make use of alternative off-site educational provision for its pupils. The arrangements for primary and secondary education in Suffolk have recently been reviewed. This school is scheduled to close at the end of the summer term 2015.
