School Description

New Hall School is a Catholic independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 1-18 years. It is set in a stunning location, dominated by the former Tudor palace of Beaulieu – once owned by Henry VIII – and surrounded by a historic park and gardens. New Hall School operates the highly successful ‘diamond model’, where students are educated in co-educational classes from ages 1 to 11 and at Sixth Form. However, from ages 11 to 16 they are taught in single-sex lessons.

“Peace of mind for parents and long lasting fond memories of school for children”

"> Such a wonderful school. My children are very happy there. They are fully inclusive and most important it gives each child a chance to be their very best. Other schools promote scholars -some schools giving them special ties to wear for example - but here everyone is treated the same and given the same chances. Each child fulfils their own potential and the teaching is consistent and thorough. Children are children longer here which is so important in high school - they are taught independence and to be confident but they are not forced to grow up too quickly and there isn’t a sudden overnight transformation when they join the high school here unlike many other schools. If you want your child to be happy at school and to enjoy it, send them here. I see so many kids not enjoying high school because they are sent to be pushed so hard but New Hall has a great balance. They get the same results, in fact better, with much happier, well-rounded and confident children.
“Caring School with high standards.”

"> Excellent! We now have three children at New Hall. From Prep through to Sixth Form. My kids have been at two other local independent schools so I am in good position to compare. New Hall's fees are slightly less whilst scoring better on the Value Added score. Better pastoral care. Any issues have always been dealt with fairly and professionally. Excellent boys boarding up to Yr8 - can't comment about boarding Yr9 onwards. Good network of school buses. Beautiful setting. Fantastic extra co-curricular activities. Better than the independent competition for GCSEs/A-levels, close behind/better than KEGs grammar for some subjects. Read the Inspection Reports and compare the results. All round excellent value and the kids are happy. The school has high standards and expectations. High entry requirements.
“Very pleasing to the eye but different on the inside...”

"> When first appearing for an interview at this school, you are swept away by the exceptional grounds and the stories the interviewer tells you. Unfortunately after having a child there for two years, first impressions are just a small picture. The treatment of my son on many occasions wasn't acceptable as they treated him like he was much younger as opposed to a student off to university. Overall it is a school that is very expensive and a place that I wouldn't recommend at all especially with all of the prominent boarding schools close by In Essex and London.
