School Description

New Life Christian School is an independent Christian day school for pupils between the ages of three and eleven years of age. There are 91 pupils on roll; 26 children are in the Early Years Foundation Stage; 23 receive government funding, eight attend part time. The majority of pupils come from African, African-Caribbean and White British backgrounds. The governing body, made up of elders of New Life Christian Church and parent governors, manages the school. The accommodation, which occupies part of the New Life Christian Centre, is situated on a small industrial estate close to Croydon town centre. The school was last inspected in July 2007. The school’s mission statement is ‘to realise every child’s full potential within a caring Christian environment’. The school also says, as part of its statement of core values, ‘Our core values are for the whole associated community. We want to establish a culture throughout the community where everyone gives their best physically, spiritually, emotionally and psychologically.’ Evaluation of the school New Life Christian School provides a good quality of education, which effectively meets its aims. A good curriculum and good teaching engage pupils’ interest. As a result, pupils make good progress, especially in English and mathematics. Pupils’ spiritual development and behaviour are outstanding. The procedures for safeguarding are robust. The overall effectiveness of the Early Years Foundation Stage is good. The school has made improvements since its last inspection, notably in the planning of lessons and the management of behaviour. It complies with all but two of the regulations.
