School Description

New Silksworth is an above average sized infant school, but average in size when compared to primary schools nationally. The majority of pupils are of White British heritage. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils, those eligible for support through the pupil premium funding, has fallen year on year and is now just above average. Pupil premium funding is additional government funding for pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals and for children who are looked after by the local authority. The proportion of disabled pupils or those who have special educational needs is nearly twice that found nationally. The proportion has more than doubled since the last inspection. Children in the early years attend full-time provision in the Reception class and part-time provision in the Nursery class. An on-site pre-school facility, Kiddywinx, is managed by the governing body. It has been subject to its own inspection. New Silksworth Children’s Centre is also located on the school site. This too is subject to its own inspection. Both were judged good at the time of their inspections and their most recent inspection reports can be found at: http://www.gov.uk/ofsted.
