The concentration of pupils shows likelihood of admission based on distance criteria

This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

3 steps to help parents gather catchment information for a school:

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

School Description

Leaders are determined that pupils at this school will succeed. They have high ambitions for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They are proud of pupils’ achievements and the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that pervades the school. Pupils are happy and safe here. Pupils listen carefully to both staff and each other. The behaviour policy is designed to help pupils regulate their behaviour and does so successfully as their names move up and down the ‘behaviour ladder’. The school has adopted characters, such as ‘Captain Care’ and ‘Major Respect’, to represent values that support positive behaviour and remind pupils of the school’s expectations. Pupils know that adults have high expectations of them and respond well to these. The school provides opportunities for pupils to take on various responsibilities, such as ‘Osidge Ambassadors’, who celebrate the achievements of others who are seen demonstrating the school values. A range of educational visits, including residentials, are offered to the pupils, such as visits to the Science Museum and the Tower of London. Pupils are encouraged to fundraise for charities and get involved in school events, such as the Christmas and summer fairs. Year 6 pupils were excited to tell inspectors how they were given a small budget to organise a stall at the Christmas fair, where some of them sold hot chocolate.

“Impressive improvement”

"> I am a parent at Osidge and the school has improved at an impressive rate since the new Headmistress started in 2016. It's early years provision is outstanding, and the recent SATS results show that the school is definitely on the right track. The staff at all levels are dedicated and well qualified. My child is happy, well cared for and looks forward to going to school each day.
“Osidge is such a lovely school.”

"> The school has worked incredibly hard under the new leadership team and has achieved remarkable progress, illustrated by the recent fantastic SATs results. The work ethic of the staff is incredible and the whole school community is lovely. I can only commend the school for the actions they have taken in the last year which have benefited the children immeasurably.
“Osidge Primary School REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT”

unlock
"> The high numbers of teachers leaving and joining the school has led to inconsistency in the quality of teaching and learning. This, in turn, is having a detrimental impact on the outcomes of pupils currently on roll. It has also caused concern among parents and carers, a significant proportion of whom are concerned about its impact on their children's education. According to May 2016 Ofsted report it is not good school anymore. It REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT.
