School Description

Prince William School is an average-sized secondary school. Almost all students are White British. Around one in ten students is known to be eligible for the pupil premium funding. This is well below the national average. The pupil premium provides additional funding for disadvantaged students, including those known to be eligible for free school meals and children in local authority care. About one in a hundred students is supported through school action. This is well below average. About one in thirty students is supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs. This is well below average. The school currently uses off-site alternative provision for a small number of students at Moulton College and Lunar Racing. At the time of this inspection, the local authority were consulting on a proposal to extend the school's age range by admitting students in Year 7 and 8 as part of a reorganisation of local schools. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set out the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress. At the time of this inspection, the headteacher had been in post for a year, the deputy headteacher for six months and the heads of mathematics and English for less than two months. Staff turnover has been high, with 25 teachers having left the school in the last year. The governors have passed a resolution to become a sponsored academy. School leaders have been supported by a National Leader of Education from Sponne School.
