Shinfield is an above-average-sized infant school. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium is below average. This is additional government funding to support those pupils eligible for school meals and those in the care of the local authority. Most pupils are from White British backgrounds. The proportion of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs is below average. Children in the early years are taught in two Nursery classes, one in the morning and another in the afternoon and in three full-time Reception classes. The school has strong links with the nearby junior school, including a shared website, links between governing bodies and some common policies.
