“Shrewsbury - Well balanced”

unlock
"> I already have a daughter at the school, who joined in the 6th form, so I know the school reasonably well. As parents, you are kept in touch with what is going on via email and the newsletter that links you to the school web-site. If you live near there is often the opportunity to drop in on an evening's lecture or play. New parents are invited to meet the Housemaster/Housemistress and Matrons, who we now know well - everybody is very approachable. In my opinion the school provides a good balance between work and play. Where most schools cut back on sports as the pressure of impending GCSEs and A-levels approaches, Shrewsbury gives the students an opportunity to keep up their commitments. Discipline at the school is fair - if students abuse the rules too often then they are asked to leave. Parent's evening comes but once a year. The school reports are written by teachers who really know your child's abilities, which is reassuring. My daughter loves the school to bits and regards it as her second home. The school has developed her not just academically, but also in confidence, resilience and resourcefulness. My son will hopeful start at the school in September - he can't wait.

News, Photos and Open Days from Shrewsbury School

Last update: 25 October 2023
OPEN DAYS

Open Days are an opportunity for prospective parents and pupils to get a feeling for Shrewsbury and our aim is to give visitors a broad experience of School life. We usually hold two Open Days in the Michaelmas Term, one in the Lent Term, and another two in the Summer Term. They are informal occasions that allow you to meet the Headmaster, Housemasters, current pupils and senior staff, tour the School and ask questions.

The day starts at around 10am and concludes after a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, you are welcome to stay on, perhaps to watch some of the afternoon's home matches, see the School Boat House or maybe the Ancient Library, should you wish.

For dates, to book a place, or to arrange an individual visit, please contact the Admissions Office on 01743 280552 or email [email protected]. Alternatively, there is an online booking form found on our website:

https://www.shrewsbury.org.uk/admissions/open-days-tours

Forthcoming dates are:

  • Saturday 18th November 2023 - Third Form
  • Saturday 2nd March 2024 - Third Form
  • Saturday 11th May 2024 - Sixth Form
  • Saturday 8th June 2024 - Third Form

Shrewsbury School Catchment Area Map

This school is independently managed and its admission criteria may be selective. There is no set catchment area as pupils are admitted from a wide variety of postcodes and, in the case of boarding schools, from outside the UK. Contact the school directly or visit their website for more information on Admissions Policy and Procedures.
