School Description

St Anne’s Junior School is smaller than the average-sized primary school. The majority of pupils are from White British backgrounds. The remainder are from a number of different minority ethnic backgrounds. An average proportion of pupils speak English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium is average. This is additional government funding provided to give extra support to those pupils known to be eligible for free school meals and to children who are looked after. The proportion of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs on the school roll is similar to most schools. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ progress and attainment. There have been considerable and constant changes of teaching and non-teaching staff and to the school’s leadership since the previous inspection. Most teachers were appointed last term. Most support staff are from a local agency. There have been four acting headteachers since the previous inspection. Since the beginning of this September, the school is being led by the Executive Principal from Waycroft Academy with which the school plans to merge towards the end of this term as part of a multi-academy trust. The local authority replaced the governing body with an independent executive board in March 2014. The school moved into a new building over the summer holidays.
