School Description

S. Anselm's sits on the crest of a hill in the heart of the Peak District - a beacon of excellence in all it does. All parents seek an environment where their children can remain children for as long as possible. Here at S. Anselm's it is just so. Through everything we do this ethos remains steadfast. We are proud of our tradition and are not ashamed to say that the values we hold dear are the very reason this school is quite unique. Here our pupils are encouraged to be themselves.

“A hidden gem in the Peaks”

Our daughter spent her early school years( 1-5 )at Foremarke Dubai and we were keen for her to be educated at home in England. We looked at Millfield (too vast) and Foremarke / Repton however we we happily enticed to consider S.Anselms in Bakewell. We were very impressed by the headmaster and his team and particularly by the pastoral care provided however to cut a long story short we choose the school. Our daughter is now a very happy full time border and excelling at the school. We are very impressed and delighted she is so content . The school now extends up to A level which also means she can remain there if we wish. Excellent sport teams , hockey, netball , rugby sailing skiing etc. It also helps that it’s tucked away in a very beautiful part of the country yet only 30 miles from Manchester and 1.5 hours from London by train to Chesterfield which is nearby.
“One of the best”

A superb school! Children are happy, learn well, and achieve excellent results. The staff know each individual, his or her strengths, weaknesses, and character. They are therefore able to get the very best from each. I've deducted one star, sadly, because the HM is a team games fanatic, and for the child who hates rugby the autumn term is a trial. Five times a week! Surely it should be possible to arrange another sport for the duffers?
