St Augustine’s is a slightly larger than average-sized 11 to 16 secondary school. The proportion of students eligible for the pupil premium, which provides additional funding for specific groups, including looked after children, students known to be eligible for free school meals and children of service families, is much lower than average. The proportion of disabled students and those with special educational needs supported through school action is also low, as is the proportion of students supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs. Most students are of White British heritage. The proportions of students from minority ethnic groups and those who speak English as an additional language are below national averages. A very small number of students in Key Stage 4 receive part of their education off-site at either Blackburn College or Accrington and Rossendale College. There is no early entry for GCSE. The school exceeds the government’s floor standards which sets the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress.
