School Description

The school is smaller than the average-sized primary school. Pupils leave at the end of Year 4. Pupils are taught in single-age classes, except Years 2 and 3, which are taught together. Most pupils are White British. A significant proportion have Traveller heritage. Many pupils join or leave the school part way through their primary school careers. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium (which in this school provides additional funding for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals, those with a parent in the armed services or those looked after by the local authority) is well above average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is above average. The proportions supported at school action plus, or with a statement of special educational needs, are above average. Since the previous inspection, the school was planning to convert to become an academy, but this fell through, creating a period of uncertainty.

“A school well worth a visit”

"> St.G's is a small school which achieves phenomenal results. 2015 has been an outstanding year during which the children's results placed it among the top 2% of schools in the country, the school’s outstanding teaching of phonics was recognised by its being awarded the Model School status by Read Write Inc and it won the Pride of Bedfordshire award in the class "Excellence in Education". A fantastic place to send your children ..
“A small school with a big heart”

unlock
"> We are delighted with the decision we made to send our daughter to St George's. All the staff are kind, caring and passionate. One thing we have valued the most is the outstanding levels of communication the school provides on our child's learning, we can access her progress online 5 times a year! As parents that has meant we can help her learning continue at home with a little guidance from her teacher, plus their reading programme is fantastic. We are really happy and would recommend this school to everyone.
“Great local school”

"> This is a great local school with a strong family/community focus. My son has attended this school for the past 3 years and is always coming home with stories of what he has been up to that day. The staff are great and know the children inside out, keeping them safe and happy. The headteacher is friendly, visible and approachable, the staff are a team and enjoy creating fun topics of all the children to enjoy. These days it's rare to find small schools that devote their time to each child, we know that our son has blossomed with the education he is receiving and we are delighted.

WELCOME TO ST GEORGE'S

We are delighted to welcome you to our noticeboard and look forward to you seeing many of the educational opportunities we provide for the learners at our school.

We are justifiably proud of St George's, as a small school we know each and every one of our pupil's and their families, personalising each child’s learning experiences to meet their needs and their developing minds. Our school ethos is built upon traditional values and promotes a 'family of learners' culture. We are an inclusive school and have designed our bespoke iCurriculum around 3 core principles - Relationships, Resilience and Reflection. These principal values provide a platform, which empowers our children to develop a life-long love of learning. Most importantly, we are a school that nurtures our learners to not only achieve their full potential but give them opportunities to exceed them too.

If you would like to join us on a tour of the school at any point in the year please contact the school reception to arrange a visit, we look forward to showing you around one of the best schools in Leighton Buzzard.
