St Mary's is much smaller than the average-sized primary school. Over three quarters of pupils are from White British backgrounds. The remainder come from a wide variety of minority ethnic heritages. There are no pupils who speak English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils for whom the school receives the pupil premium (additional government funding for pupils eligible for free school meals, those in care and those with a parent in the armed forces) is above the national average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is above average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is also above average. There are too few pupils in each year group to compare results with the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics. The headteacher has been in post since January 2014.
