This is an average-sized primary school with one class in each age group. Children begin the Reception class in the September before their fifth birthday. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals is very much lower than the national average. Most pupils are White British. The percentage of pupils from minority ethnic groups is around the national average, and the proportion who speak English as an additional language is just below the national average. All these pupils are competent in speaking English. The proportion of pupils who are supported by school action plus or have a statement of special educational needs is slightly above the national average. The school has Healthy Schools status and the Activemark. It has been led by an acting headteacher for the past two years. A new headteacher has now been appointed to commence in September 2012. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress.
