School Description

Tavistock and Summerhill Preparatory School is a co-educational independent day school for pupils from three to 13 years of age. It is located in Haywards Heath in West Sussex. There are 93 full-time pupils and 38 part-time children in the Nursery classes. Thirty-one children are in receipt of nursery funding. The school was established in 1973 and was registered in 2003. There are no pupils with a statement of special educational needs. The school prepares pupils for entry into both maintained and independent schools. The school seeks to stimulate a love of learning so that pupils will want to learn for themselves. It aims ‘to challenge pupi ls to maximise their abilities and promote academic, musical and sporting excellence, as well as giving pupils opportunities to be involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities’. The school has appointed a new headteacher in September 2010. At the time of the last inspection in November 2007, there were no pupils of Reception class age.
