School Description

The Beehive is a small special school which provides education for boys and girls who have behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The school caters for residential pupils. It is in the ownership of the Keys group, a limited company, which also owns other similar schools. The school admits up to four pupils aged 5 to 14 years and was first registered in January 2006. It was last inspected in 2010. All pupils are in the care of the local authority. Pupils almost always have a statement of special educational needs. The company’s education operations’ manager has overall responsibility for the school, although a lead teacher has day-to-day responsibility. The operations manager had been in place for less than a half term at the time of the inspection. The school uses alternative provision at The Marshes, a weekly ‘club’ for pupils in the care of the local authority to provide social and vocational experiences. The school aims to ‘raise the confidence and self-esteem of children’ so that ‘they see themselves as learners’ and ‘achieve their academic and personal potential’.

The Beehive Catchment Area Map

This school is independently managed and its admission criteria may be selective. There is no set catchment area as pupils are admitted from a wide variety of postcodes and, in the case of boarding schools, from outside the UK. Contact the school directly or visit their website for more information on Admissions Policy and Procedures.
