School Description

The Education Centre is an independent special school for boys and girls aged from 11 to 16 years. It caters for up to six pupils and is part of Timeout Children’s Homes. There is currently one student on roll. All the students who attend the school are looked after by the local authority and eligible for additional funding from the pupil premium. The students have a residential placement in children’s homes managed by the Timeout group. Typically, students attending the school have complex emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. They have had difficulty settling into previous education provision. Not all students have a statement of special educational needs or education health care plans. The school uses the Springfield Academy in Calne for vocational courses. The head of education has responsibility for the educational provision across Timeout Children’s Homes and is a member of the single proprietorial management board. The sole teacher is also the lead teacher and has daily responsibility for education in the school. The lead teacher was appointed in July 2014.
