Independent preparatory schools do not have to follow the National Curriculum or submit test results to the Department for Education so there is no individual school performance data or star rating.

Visit the school's website to learn more about their unique curriculum, policies on testing and common leaver destinations (a good indicator of pupil progress). See our About page for information on Choosing A Prep School.

School Description

The Rowans School is a non-selective, independent, co-educational preparatory school with charitable status. It was founded in 1936 and is situated in a quiet road in Wimbledon with beautiful grounds. The school serves the local multi-cultural community. There are currently 113 pupils aged between three and seven year olds. There are 59 children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who are taught in the Kindergarten and Reception classes. Kindergarten children have the option of staying on for a full day four days a week (Monday to Thursday). A small minority of pupils speak English as an additional language or are bilingual. There are no pupils with a statement of special educational need. Our aim is to inspire each child to achieve their full potential and to prepare them to meet the challenges that they will experience at the next stage of their education with confidence and high self-esteem. This is achieved within a stimulating, creative, happy, caring and respectful environment where children are encouraged and motivated to try new challenges.
