School Description

The school is a larger-than-average-sized primary school. It has 14 single age classes, which include two Reception classes for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Most pupils are of White British heritage and there is a small, but increasing, number of children from ethnic minority backgrounds, some of whom enter the school speaking English as an additional language. An above average proportion of pupils are eligible for the pupil premium, which provides additional funding for children in local authority care and pupils known to be eligible for free school meals. The proportion of pupils supported at school action and school action plus is well above average. The proportion of pupils with a statement of special educational needs is also well above average. A breakfast club, which is managed by the governing body, is available. Since the beginning of 2013 the school has been part of the Crofty Co-operative Trust made up of six local schools. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set out the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. The school does not make use of alternative provision for any of its pupils.
