The Samworth Enterprise Academy is an average-sized school. The academy is sponsored by Sir David Samworth and the Bishop of Leicester. The academy is supported by the Diocese of Leicester. An interim Principal was appointed in September 2014 and has been in post for two terms. The academy is currently receiving support from the Tudor Grange Academies Trust. This support has operated since April 2015 and includes the provision of an Acting Principal and an Associate Principal. This arrangement is scheduled to last for eighteen months. All other senior leaders are newly appointed to their current roles and have been in their current posts since April 2015. They were previously working at the academy. The academy is currently receiving support from a National Leader of Education who is the Executive Principal of the Tudor Grange Academies Trust. This support has operated from April 2015. The Department for Education issued the academy with a pre-warning notice in February 2015 because of low standards. Most pupils are of White British heritage. The early years provision consists of two full-time Reception classes. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium is above average. The pupil premium is additional government funding to support disadvantaged pupils (those known to be eligible for free school meals and looked after children). The proportion of pupils who are disabled or have special educational needs is above average. The academy meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress at the end of Key Stage 2 but it does not meet the floor standards for Key Stage 4. A very small number of pupils access education at a different site. This provision has been managed by the academy. This provision is known as 'Magpie'. Current leaders have now brought this tuition back on to the main academy site. The governors manage Samworth Early Start, provision for Nursery-age children. This is based in the academy and is subject to a separate inspection.
