School Description

Walton Hall serves the whole of Staffordshire. The school is not easily accessible by public transport and students almost all travel to school by taxi or minibus. All the students at Walton Hall have a statement of special educational needs. Students mainly have moderate or severe learning difficulties, and some students have autistic spectrum disorder. A small number of students have social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. The school has residential provision during the week for up to 20 students each night. Around half the school’s students stay for at least one night a week; a few stay for two nights. The majority of students join the school in Year 7 and stay until the end of Key Stage 5. Around a third of students are eligible for the pupil premium - extra government funding for students known to be eligible for free school meals and the small number in local authority care. The majority of the students are White British. The school belongs to a federation that includes two other Staffordshire special schools.
