This is a slightly smaller-than-average school. A very large majority of pupils come from minority ethnic groups and a much higher proportion than in most schools speak English as an additional language. The population is diverse with 27 languages spoken by pupils in the school. There has been an increase over the last three years in the number of Somali pupils, and pupils are now arriving from Poland and Nepal. The proportion of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities is similar to that found in most schools. The proportion known to be eligible for free school meals is lower than in most schools. The school has recently gained the International Schools award. A before- and after-school club is held within the school, but this is privately managed and subject to a separate inspection. There was a very high turnover of staff at the start of the year, mainly due to maternity leave, promotion and relocation. As a result, only two of the present class teachers were teaching at the school last year. Apart from the headteacher and the deputy headteacher, only one member of the senior leadership team was in post last year.
