School Description

The school is much larger than the average-sized primary school. The school occupies two sites, 300 metres apart; Key Stage 1 and Early Years Foundation Stage are located in the Oakes building, Key Stage 2 is on the Beeches site. The vast majority of pupils come from a minority ethnic background, the largest of which are from Pakistani heritage. Around nine pupils in ten speak English as an additional language, which is well above average. Around one pupil in seven is disabled or has special educational needs supported through school action. This is above average. Around one pupil in 20 is supported at school action plus or through a statement of special educational needs, which is below average. Almost one in two pupils are supported by the pupil premium (additional government funding for specific groups of pupils, including those known to be eligible for free school meals), which is above average. The Early Years Foundation Stage is made up of three full-time Reception classes, and a parttime Nursery class. Children attend the Nursery class for two-and-a-half days. The governing body manages a before-school club at both sites daily. The school does not meet the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress.
