School Description

Ysgol Maes Edwin is a community primary school in the village of Flint Mountain, near the town of Flint. The school caters for pupils between the ages of three and 11. Currently, 61 pupils attend the school, including 10 who attend the nursery on a part-time basis. This is a substantial increase since the previous inspection. The school has two mixed-age classes and a nursery class. Around 18% of pupils are entitled to free school meals, which is close to the average for the local authority and Wales. Most pupils are of white British ethnicity, with a very few pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds. No pupils speak Welsh as a first language or receive support for English as an additional language. The school identifies that about 12% of pupils have additional learning needs, which is close to the average for Wales. No pupil has a statement of special educational needs. The last inspection of the school was in January 2008. The headteacher was appointed in September 2000.
